Focus is gained at a rate of 10,000 per day slowly over the 24 hour period even when logged out with a maximum storage of 30,000. Any excess focus after this is lost. Focus is only gained with an active premium account. Focus is used to 'water' crops, 'nurture' animals or to increase the resource return rate (RRR) when refining and crafting.

Crafting with Focus enabled increases the resource return rate. It also increase slightly the quality of the produced item.

Some zones allow a RRR when crafting. For example, crafting in a town will result in a resource return rate of 15%. If you were to use 100 cottons to craft 100 linen, then you would receive on average a refund of 15 cottons. This gives you a slight advantage when crafting and if you purchase resources from other players, this also gives you a subtle economic advantage that can pay off well in the long run. The bonus received depends on the zone you are crafting in and generally speaking, the more dangerous the zone, the greater the return.

Crafting at the black zone gives 44% resource return rate with focus.

Refining and Crafting Bonuses: Bonuses will apply to materials refined and items crafted in the Royal cities. Here are the items that will be affected in each city:

Focus cost-efficiency

Crafting focus costs can be reduced by attaining a higher mastery level to the required skill. The crafting focus cost is halved for each 10,000 focus cost efficiency points.source. With all of the relevant masteries maxed the focus cost is reduced all the way to 6.25% of the base focus cost.
