A guild owning a resource territory, or any player party at the energy manipulator has the option of fighting in a Crystal Realm Battle.

Basic Rules

In these Crystal League battles you can expect:

  • Lethal or NonLethal Battles depending on which token your team is using to queue.
  • The item power is soft capped, and each item power point above this threshold only counts 50%
  • The scoring mechanics are the same as in regular GvGs
  • The battle vault of the territory the team starts from is used


To Start the Match

  • Players have to join (queue) the match with a token in inventory, one token for each player
  • Players have to be in the cluster of the territory or energy manipulator they signed to to join the battle when the match starts.

Time Windows

Currently the system offers multiple time windows for both 5v5 and 20v20 crystals.

The 6 daily time slots for 5v5 are:

  • UTC 2 and 2:30
  • UTC 13 and 13:30
  • UTC 20 and 20:30

The 6 daily time slots for 20v20 are:

  • UTC 1 and 1:30
  • UTC 12 and 12:30
  • UTC 19 and 19:30

Tower Level

Each of the resource territories will have a tower level going from 1 to 8.

Tower levels:

  • Will increase after a win in a Crystal Realm Battle
  • Will decrease after a loss in a Crystal Realm Battle
  • Remain the same after a draw in a Crystal Realm Battle
  • Will increase if the system cannot find an opponent for you

For every level a tower has, the guards, mages and zone enchantment bonuses are upgraded.

The Season Points will be sent directly to a team’s guild, while the Siphoned Energy can be looted along with other rewards at the end of the match.

Seasonal Point Multiplier

Season points from Crystal Realm Battles will also be influenced by the seasonal multiplier (doubled at the last month of a season).


Rewards will be given out at match end as follows:

  • The winner always receives 25% of the total possible rewards
  • 75% will be divided into 4 bonus loot lists and be given out based on the final tickets at match end

for example:

  • A 150:0 win will give 100% of the loot to the winner
  • A 1:0 win will give 62.5% (25+ 37.5) to the winner and 37.5% to the loser
  • A draw will give out only 75% total and divide it between both teams based on the final ticket
  • A team that signs up but cannot be matched will receive 25% of the total winner loot

Crystal Realm Battle rewards include:


  • The matchmaking system will attempt to match teams of the same tower level against each other and only match different tower level teams if there would otherwise be no fight at all
  • The system will also prevent Crystal Realm Battles between two teams of the same alliance

14 September 2022Into the Fray Patch 6Starting with Season 17, there will be additional substeps in the Crystal Arena ranking system. While the amount of Rank Points needed to reach maximum rank remains the same, there will be extra steps between the ranks (Iron III, Iron IV, etc.) which makes Rank Up events more frequent. As a result, more chests are given out for ranking up in a Crystal Arena Season.  Additionally, Arena rankings will not fully reset at season end. Instead, players will be partially ranked down at the start of the next season: for example, Crystal Rank players will start at Silver I. Any Rank Up Rewards skipped by starting above zero are still earned, and will be sent via in-game mail. Details:

  • At the start of the next Arena Season, players will be partially instead of fully down-ranked
  • Other changes:
    • The Arena Master now only accepts the new Arena Sigils; the old Discontinued Arena Sigils can no longer be traded for rewards. However, Discontinued Arena Sigils can now be salvaged for a 10% chance to get a T4 Royal Sigil.

  • Improved Rank Point calculations for Crystal Arena to put more emphasis on more quickly getting players into the rank bracket that best reflects their skill level. Players that are too far ahead of the curve in their bracket will now get far more Rank Points per win, regardless of the opponent’s team strength. And players who are not successful enough in their bracket lose Rank Points faster to avoid players' Rank Points overrating their skill level.
  • Improved Crystal Arena Matchmaking to put a higher emphasis on matching players at the same (or close) rank. This change should lead to more enjoyable matches with most players on both teams in similar rank brackets.
  • Reduced Adventurer's Challenge Points gained from Arena losses by roughly 25% (rounded in steps of 50, so actual number may be somewhat higher or lower). This ensures that the Adventurer's Challenge Daily Bonus cannot be completed by only losing one Arena match.
  • Match rewards are now displayed at the end of both Arena and Crystal Arena matches (previously only appeared for Crystal Arena).
  • 5 July 2022Into the Fray Patch 2 (+ Living Legends Event)Time slots for Crystal League battles have been updated:
    • 5v5:
      • All non-lethal 5v5 matches have been moved one hour later, and now run at the same time as lethal 5v5 matches
    • 20v20:
      • Level 1 and 2 matches take place daily at 1:00, 1:30, 19:00 and 19:30 UTC
      • Level 3 matches take place at 19:00 and 19:30 UTC on Tuesdays and Fridays, and at 1:00 and 1:30 UTC on Wednesdays and Saturdays

    Changes have been made to 5v5 tokens:

    • Level 2 and 3 tokens:
      • Lethal and non-Lethal tokens can be bought from the Energy Manipulator again
      • Level 2 and 3 tokens are no longer season-bound, so old tokens can be used again
      • Season-bound level 2 and 3 tokens are now unusable, but can be salvaged for their Silver purchase price
    • Level 4 and 5 tokens (Lethal and non-Lethal) are tradable again

  • Match Adjustments:
    • Base Respawn time: 10s → 15s
    • Runestone Channel Time: 10s → 7.5s
    • Points per Death: 2 → 3
  • The goal of these changes is to make matches more accessible. Shorter channeling of Runestones makes them easier to claim, while higher Respawn times and points per death reduce the number of deaths per match, reducing gear costs. Additionally, this makes mass strategies, like sacrificing numerous players to secure Runestones in non-full loot matches, less successful.
  • Consolidated time slots:
    • 20v20 matches are now scheduled across fewer time slots, with more teams playing simultaneously, to reduce no-shows
  • 8 June 2022Into the Fray UpdateA knockdown-rules 5v5 Crystal League now runs alongside the full-loot League:
    • Uses current Crystal League system but changes all matches to knockdown rules
    • Rewards are reduced from the full-loot League, but still sufficiently reward progress
    • Season Point cap is shared with full-loot League
    • Players can qualify for the Crystal League Championship through the non-lethal League
    • Matches happen at different times than the full-loot League, allowing participation in both

This new map should make it significantly harder to hold three caps for one team, which offers increased comeback potential and should lead to more dynamic and exciting matches. The old Crystal League map is still available for scrim matches.

    • Players can now move between city zones without canceling a current Crystal League registration:
      • For example, players who sign up at Martlock Conquerors' Hall can go to Martlock Marketplace or Bank without canceling registration
      • Players waiting for a match CANNOT leave the city, move between different cities via Travel Planner, or visit islands without canceling registration
      • This only affects cities, and does NOT apply to matches registered for at Territories or Hideouts
    • When a group leader re-registers for a Crystal League match, the UI will remember that player as group leader and offer a streamlined re-invite process for group members

    • Dramatically improved the value of artifacts in reward chests after matches. The amount of artifacts has not been reduced, increasing overall chest values drastically. Chests now contain artifacts of the following tiers exclusively:
      • Rune Artifacts: T7 or higher
      • Soul Artifacts: T6 or higher
      • Relic Artifacts: T5 or higher
      • Avalonian Artifacts: all tiers
    • Reduced Season Points for winning Level 1 matches, to make it more worthwhile to participate in Levels 2+ in comparison:
      • Season Points for winning Level 1 20v20 match: 5 → 2
    • Reduced starting points for each team to lower the overall gear cost per match, as shorter matches also means fewer casualties on both sides:
      • Starting Points per Team: 250 → 200

    • Increased the rewards for Level 2+ matches:
      • Reward chests now contain artifacts, with a rare chance to include Avalonian artifacts.
      • Artifacts are guaranteed for winning teams, though losing teams may also receive them based on the overall point spread.
      • To create a stronger incentive to directly play Level 3 matches, Level 3 chests contain twice as many artifacts on average as Level 2 chests.
    • Teams may now choose to start 20v20 Crystal League matches with 15 or more of their players ready, rather than needing exactly 20.
    • The Crystal League match info button now also displays which party members are ready to join the match, to give an overview of which players have not yet accepted the invite.
    • Also, for both 20v20 and 5v5 Crystal League matches, no-shows (situations where no match-up can be found for a registered team) now reward 80% of the match's Season Point value (previously 60%).

    • Added a new level between level 1 and 2 so there are now 3 levels of daily matches
    • All levels above 2 are moved up a level (e.g. old level 4 → new level 5); highest match level is now 7

    2 December 2020Rise of Avalon Patch 10 and Hotfix 10.1In Season 10, mid-level Crystal League matches gave too many Season Points, making it possible to dominate a season primarily via these matches. Season Points for these matches have been decreased for Season 11:
    • Level 3: 25→ 15
    • Level 4: 75→ 40
    • Level 5: 200→ 100
    • Level 6: 500→ 250
    • Level 7: 1000→ 600
    • Level 8: 2500→ 1600

    Additionally, there is now a daily limit for Season Points earned from the Crystal League. This limit makes it less desirable to accumulate elite Crystal League teams in one guild and instead creates an incentive for top teams to spread across various guilds.

    • Daily limits vary based on which match types are available on a given day
    • Daily limits for 5v5 and 20v20 are independent and separate from each other
    2 December 2020Rise of Avalon Patch 10 and Hotfix 10.1With Guild Season 11, 20v20 Crystal Realm battles will be available with their own seasonal league. Details:
    • Levels 1 and 2 20v20 tokens can be bought at the Energy Manipulator for 150,000 and 300,000 Silver respectively
    • The signup process and match schedule follow a similar pattern to the 5v5 League
    • However, matches will have the same ruleset and similar map layout to the former 20v20 city fights

    Due to the high number of players needed per match, these fights will be less frequent (all times UTC):

    • Level 1: daily at 01:00, 12:00 and 19:00 (non-lethal)
    • Level 2: daily at 01:30, 12:30 and 19:30 (Lv.2 and above are full loot)
    • Level 3: every Saturday at 12:00 and 19:00 and every Sunday at 01:00
    • Level 4: every second Saturday at 12:30 and 19:30 and every second Sunday at 01:30
    • Level 5: 3 Saturdays over the course of the season at 17:00
    • The final Level 6 match will take place on the last Saturday of the season at 18:00

    • Visual overhaul to match current UI style
    • Shows each player's full equipment, including consumables
    • After match completion, players can change to a second page containing tracked per-player match statistics about Kill Fame, Damage dealt/received, and Healing dealt/received
    • After the match, pages can also be sorted by category

    20 January 2020Queen UpdateThe Crystal League offers Silver, Fame, Season Points, and rare mounts, with rewards increasing with each successive bracket. Crystal League battles require a token of the correct level, and are accessed either via Energy Manipulators in cities / Lv.3 Hideouts (by any premade team) or owned territory towers (by the owning guild). Winning via the latter gives tower level upgrades that grant improved defense, resources, and mage efficiency to the entire cluster. Lv.1 Tokens can be purchased from the Energy Manipulator. Winning gives each member of the winning team a token for the next-higher level. In addition to the Energy Manipulator in Caerleon, there are now Energy Manipulators in the other Royal Cities, found inside Conquerors' Hall.

    Crystal Realm GvGs are now available between seasons. These between-season fights do not generate season points, but still offer loot and rewards.

    The threshold for which money invested in 20v20 city GvGs is returned has been adjusted from 149 points to 195 points. Since points are scored on a subtractive basis, this means that attackers now need to score fewer points to get their Silver back. Additionally, match length for city GvGs has been increased from 25 minutes to 30 minutes.

    City GvGs have been added to the practice GvG "scrims" available. To initiate a practice city fight, one party of 20 must invite another party of 20 using the regular chat commands (see here for more info). The new map name is "city".

    21 November 2018Nimue UpdateThe Crystal Realm is a brand-new 5v5 guild-versus-guild arena, accessible from Watchtower territories while a GvG Season is in progress. Any guild with a Watchtower territory can choose to take part in these battles, allowing a greater number of teams to participate in GvG fights. All participants receive a proportionate share of the loot, and teams are matched based on a ranking system that includes a team's current Watchtower level.
