There are 5 types of Regions (also called zones) and they are classified according to their danger level. Zone types are easy to identify on the world map. Safe zones are labeled with a non-decorated label, Yellow zones contain 1 skull, Red zones contain 2 skulls, and Black zones contain 3 skulls. Player Towns are recognizable by the contents of the zone when viewed on the world map. The screenshot below illustrates a town called Amisbridge bordered by yellow zones as indicated by the single skulls. Unseen and South of the town, are safe zones:

Green Safe Zones (No PvP)

Green zones known as "safe zones" include starter zones and the areas surrounding them. Generally speaking, safe zones are found along the Southern coasts of both continents and are free from PvP. The further North you travel the more dangerous the zones become beginning with Yellow zones.

Yellow Zones (Limited PvP)

In yellow zones, you can be killed but you wont lose items and you are able to revive locally. You will however lose silver based on the value of your gear. Yellow zone mechanics follow:

  • You can set yourself to "hostile" using a button found by your portrait
  • Hostile players can attack and knock down other players
  • Everyone can see the number of hostile players in the area
  • Non-hostile players gain a bonus against hostile players
  • When players are knocked down, some of their equipment's durability is converted into silver and dropped
  • Knocked down players can get back up, or choose to respawn, leaving their equipment as loot

Red Zones (Full Loot PvP)

Red zones allow PvP and Full Loot. You still are required to flag as a hostile before you can attack other players. High tier resources can only be found in red zones. Red zone mechanics include the following:

  • You can set yourself to "hostile" using the button by your portrait
  • Hostile players can attack and kill other players
  • When players are killed, their equipment is damaged or destroyed, and can be looted by anyone
  • Killed players must respawn
  • Any group of more than 10 players will appear on the minimap

Black Zones (Flag Free Full Loot PvP)

Black zone mechanics include the following:

  • All players are hostile; no flagging
  • Hostile players can attack and kill other players
  • When players are killed, their equipment is damaged or destroyed, and can be looted by anyone
  • Killed players must respawn

Player Towns

Each continent contains 5 zones each that can be claimed by guilds. Except when defending for ownership, there is no PvP.

There are 10 towns scattered throughout the land of Albion. Towns can be claimed by Guilds and claims can be challenged by others through 20 v 20 player battles. Cities are filled with land plots for players to place buildings on. Every town contains a fast travel merchant that will allow you to travel to other towns on the same continent, as well as player islands.
