This is a duplicate page

One thing I would recommend doing before creating a new page is to search using the advanced search function (click the magnifying glass in the search box then enter your search phrase on the next page) to make sure that the page does not already exist. In this case, the page does exist at Carrot_soup and it was created before this one. There are times when the same information might be presented on two different pages, but those pages will often be about two different things, not literally a re-creation of the same page. For this reason I am marking this page for deletion. -- Whipimedia (User Page) 18:59, 22 November 2015 (UTC)

Ah, I will do this in the future. It appears that the data on the page you are suggesting is incorrect AND the page has poor capitalization. Would it not make more sense to delete that page instead in favor of a better looking title for the page?
It would be better to fix the errors on the existing page by editing the page, this includes grammar. And as I think you have come to realize, we can't delete pages, admins do that so we have to mark them for deletion and then wait. In the meantime, we have duplicates that will confuse users and editors too wondering which page they should edit. You can edit any page, no one "owns" a page. Also, if you happen to come upon a page with a name you don't like, you can move the page. For example "Carrot_soup" could be renamed to "Carrot_Soup". But in this case we have to wait for deletion before we could do that. Why not mark the original page for deletion? Because etiquette favors keeping the original with its history. Another solution is to use redirects (but this is not relevant for a "carrot soup"). However, it's quite relevant for pages who could be either singular or plural (Weapons / Weapon ? Armors / Armor ? Resource / Resources ?) Example: On this wiki, we have the plural form for most pages but not for Armor. Maybe we should set up a few editing rules as done here : Inseed (talk) 21:28, 22 November 2015 (UTC)
I didn't know pages could be renamed. If this is the case, it makes sense to delete this page and keep the old one and rename it when this one is deleted.-- Dasty (User Page) 21:30, 22 November 2015 (UTC)
